-The use of multiple transmit and receive antennas (MIMO system) associated with coding techniques have been proposed as a way to fulfill the demand for increased the capacity and the performance of wireless communication systems, it considers as a promising technology for the future of wireless communication systems, due to its ability to achieve higher data rates without increasing the transmission power and bandwidth .This work aims to present the Xilinx Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) design and implementation of a multiple antenna wireless communications system, based on Alamouti’s transmit diversity scheme.

The implementation demonstrates the space-time code in a baseband system with two transmitting antennas and (two receiving antennas in one system, and four receiving antennas at another) with the encoding and decoding algorithms using Very high speed integration circuit Hardware Description Language (VHDL ).A developed mobile channel model has been designed using VHDL to connect the transmitter antennas with the received antennas.

At first state, the channel model was considered unity (ideal channel) and the results are taken, where the received signals are the same of the transmitted signals.

At the second state the values of MIMO channel design using MATLAB are taken, and these values are substituted in channel model with and without Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN), the result of this study was observation that the system performance improved as the number of antennas at receiver was increased.
