It is generally accepted that the conveyance of pay loads by construction cranes generates pendulation of pay load and this phenomena decreases the ability of the crane to resist tipping moments.

This research provides a theoretical and an experimental design parameter analysis to aid in the development of a device that inhibits a reduction of these pendulation.

The study evaluates the pay load move me at to excite some specific tasks.

Motion of pendulation payload is modeled as a simple pendulum phenomenon.

Classification of loads and effects on payload swinging motions were studied using the crane model which is designed and constructed in this research in the laboratories of Machines and Equipment Engineering at the University of Technology, Iraq, Divergence from theory was indicated by examining the actual time period that differs from the time period of a simple pendulum, and examining the damping ratio of simple harmonic motion which can be determined using the logarithmic decrement equation.

All these parameters were extracted by filming the oscillation of payioad by using a digital video camera recorder.

The visually recorded trials arc then analyzed by using Adobe Premiere Program.

The conducted experiments include the evaluation of payioad response using a developed crane model, investigation the slewing motion by applying constant angular velocity and constant cable length in both normal and parallel planes, and investigating the traveling and luffing motions of the boom crane model.

The investigations also included combined motions of these The results show that although high velocity crane cycle execution is { high demand, the high velocity operation causes higher values of side loading and perhaps swing out thus increase the load affecting radius and reduce the capacity of crane.

Also the results show that the pendulating of payload depends on the kind of combined motions that are used to reach the objective place, cable length, mass of payload, and angle of deviation of payload.
