الملخص الإنجليزي

Cathodic protection is an electrochemical means of corrosion prevention technique which uses the electrochemical properties of metals to insure that the structure to be protected becomes the cathodic of an electrolytic cell And polarization is the extent of potential change by net current to or from an electrode measured in volt. The purpose of this investigation is to study the effect of different variable such as temperature (303,313,323) K and the mixing speed at different speeds of impeller (0, 280, 472) r.

p.

m, on cathodic protection current density (icp) that would provide a full cathodic protection for tube metal specimen of carbon steel immersed in 3.5 % NaCl solution at distance 10cm between cathode and anode.

And to study the behavior of carbon steel in 3, 5 % NaCl solution by using potenlioslalic technique at above conditions. The results showed that the cathodic protection current density increased with increasing temperature and increase mixing speed.

The corrosion potential became more negative with increasing in temperature and decreasing in mixing speed, so that cathodic protection potential is found to be more negative to some extent in order to make adequate protection.
