الملخص الإنجليزي

Eighteen polymeric blends were prepared from epoxy resins, unsaturated polyester and polysulfide rubber with (0 %-100 %) ratios ; they were needed to prepare binary blends for working.

A study of the mechanical properties including impact, bending, compression, hardness and tension tests and the thermal conductivity by using Lee's disk has been made to find out the compatibility.

A microscopic test was used to study the fracture's surface and to 11nd out the change between the resins and blends and their homogeneity.

Heat treatment has been done to all the blends at temperatures of (50°C, 75°C, 1 10°C and 220T) to find out its effect on the thermal and mechanical properties of the blends.

It has been noticed that the (40 % EP/ 60 % UP / 0 % PSR) (20 % EP / 60 % UP / 20 %PSR) (20 % UP / 60 % UP / 2 0 % PSR) (20 % EP / 40 % UP / 40 % PSR) ratios give the higher impact strength while a high compression strength is obtained at (80 % EP 0 % UP 20 % PSR).

The rest of the mechanical tests show imparity in the blend hardness and brittleness with the small ratio of rubber PSR to soft and tough material at higher ratios.

Increase is noticed in the strength compression, hardness and the ductile coefficient with the increase in the heat treatment.

The ternary blends show a decrease in the value of EP, UP and PSR in the thermal conductivity except the ratios (40 % EP/ 30 % UP/ 30 % PSR) which show a little increase in the thermal conductivity.

Seven samples of composite materials, unified weight fraction of 40 % of short carbon fibers-with different matrix materials have been prepared due to their impact strength as follows : 1- EPC Epoxy Resins.

2- UPC Unsaturated Polyester resins.

3- Binary blends EP+PSR and blends ratios (80 % EP / 0 % UP/ 20 % PSR).

It is marked as a specimen.

4- Binary blend EP+UP at blend ratios (40 % EP/ 60 % UP/ 0 % PSR) marked as 9C.

5- Ternary blend EP+UP+PSR at ratios (20 % EP/ 60 % UP/ 20 % PSR) marked as 18C.

6- Ternary blend EP + UP + PSR at ratios (20 % EP/ 50 % UP/ 39 % PSR) marked as 19C.

7- Ternary blend EP+UP+PSR at ratios (20 % EP / 40 % UP/ 40 % PSR) marked as 20C.

The mechanical tests were done on the composite materials and a thermal conductivity test was done on all specimens at the same previously mentioned temperatures.

When comparing the mechanical properties of composite materials based on the mono polymer matrix and those of the composite materials based on polymeric blends matrices, it can be seen that composite materials best blends matrix has improvements in the impact strength as well as in the thermal conductivity.
