This work addresses the problems of using computer network environment for secure communications, having in mind some basic considerations which should be taken into account for such environment.

Since the invention of one-time pad systems, the use of non-repeated encryption keys had a wide interest from cryptographers, but some difficulties make systems that use such keys unfeasible.

The great challenge is to make them real and practical.

The basic of this work is to develop a system for secure communications based on Kerberos authentication protocol.

In.

this work, Kerberos is customized to adopt the new advanced encryption standard (AES) algorithm.

The main goals of the work are to maintain confidentiality and authentication for communications by using cryptographic techniques based on AES and one-time keys, and then to develop an efficient and secure method for distributing such keys.

The work adopts the concept of key distribution center (KDC) to solve some problems relevant to the key management, which are inherited in the symmetric key techniques.

By using of KDC concept, problems like system scalability, key distribution, and key reveling can be handled efficiently.

The developed system has been implemented using Visual Basic 6 programming language, then practically tested on LAN system, and the results obtained are encouraging and exactly as they expected.
