Assembly process has been the core process for most modem industries.

And because it is estimated that a full (50 %) of manufacturing costs are tied up in the assembly process it becomes necessary to take in mind assembly considerations in early design stage In order to design products requiring easy and low cost assembly processes, this approach is called design for assembly DFA.

In this research an approach to integrate design and assembly tasks has been proposed throughout creating concurrent environment.

Assembly features has been exploited as the link between design and assembly planning, Design by features approach has been used to represent assembly model and introduce it to assembly planning.

Two libraries have been built, first geometric library and features library.

The term assembly planning here refers to automatic sequence generation.

Where the feasible sequences of assembling the pans of a product are generated without human interference, feasible assembly sequences are generated by adapting disassembly approach.

By generating disassembly sequence and revise it to generate assembly sequence.

Two main approaches have been adapting to generate disassembly sequence 1-part file generation and 2- search algorithm.

The designated FB-CA-DFA system deals with rotational parts that are assembled along one axis.

The system has been tested on electric heater which consists of six parts.

The system generates 14 feasible sequences for assembling the product.
