الملخص الإنجليزي

In this work, the study of the generation of ultra short pulse laser techniques is carried out such as includes, Q-switching, mode locking, gain switching and cavity dumping.

In addition to that other techniques utilizing semiconductor lasers, especially Monolithic and Interferomtric Mode locked, because of their usefulness in communication.

The last technique was studied in great details because of its suitability for the work.

A computational set of available equations was designed and executed using C^ language and matlab software to simulate the generation and transmission system at 1550 nm wavelength and a pulse rise time of 45 ps at a laser powers reaches 40 mW.

The fast receiver unit working at frequency of (1 GHz), with a transmission rate of 1 Gbps, at different values of receiver areas.

When receiver area equal (3.14 x lO^6 m2) the system could reaches a transmission range of 5 Km.
