الملخص الإنجليزي

In the last five years of the third millennium, extensive attempts have been undertaken in Iraq to produce lightweight concrete and focused on investigating the validity of local raw materials as an alternative to the imported materials.

In this work an attempt is made to produce high performance lightweight concrete (HPLVVC) for structural purposes from locally available materials.

The behavior and characteristics of the produced concrete are also studied.

In spite of the intensive demand and vital importance of HPLWC in many applications, very limited amount of published literature is available on the properties and behavior of (HPLWC) incorporating both high reactivity met kaolin (HRM) and porcelanite lightweight aggregate (PLWA).

The first objective of this work is to prepare a pozzolanic material! (Met kaolin) from local Kaolin clays which conforms to the engineering requirements.

The second objective is to produce high performance lightweight concrete using porcelanite crushed stone as a coarse aggregate, natural sand as a fine aggregate, Ordinary Portland Cement and met kaolin as a Pozzolanic material.

Nine mixes of (HPLWC) were produced (three different w / c ratios and three with different coarse lightweight aggregate to cementations materials (by volume) ratios.) The basic properties of concrete mixes in their fresh and hardened state were investigated such as slump density, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and stress-strain relationship.

II was found that the Jrv density ranged from 1820 to 1978 kg / m3 and the relationship between the fresh and hardened density is linear.

Other important physical properties of used hardened (HPLWA) concrete used such as absorption, thermal conductivity, ultrasonic pulse velocity and time dependent deformation (shrinkage and creep strains) were also investigated.

The absorption ranged from 4.04 % to 7.3 %.

The thermal conductivity of HPLWA concrete in this work ranged from 0.42 and 0.70 VV / mL.

these are encouraging properties.

Based on the results from the present work, additional work was done for the predicting volumetric changes in (HPLWA) concrete.

It was found that shrinkage strain of this type of LWC ranged from (485 x KT6to550 x l (T6) mm / mm and the creep strain ranged from (l421 x l (T6tol92$ x 1 (r6) mm / mm.

The volumetric change was affected by PLWA / Cm ratio.

The experimental results of the present work (which explain the behaviors and properties of HPLWA concrete) in this work are reviewed.

Discussed and compared with many international and local researches and standard specifications.
