Levels of Se, Cr and Mn were estimated utilizing flame Jess (AAS), in addition flame (AAS) was adopted for the determination of Zn, Cu, Fc, Mg and Cu in the sera of (185) patients with provisional ' diagnosis of MI and (89) control subject in (90) of the patient MI was confirmed by ECG and serum cardio enzymes, the remaining (95) patients had AP.

The results obtained have shown significant decrease in the level of Se, Zn, Fe, Mn, and Cr among patients with MI and AP as compared to the controls.

The levels of serum Cu was significantly higher among the patients group as compared to the control, while serum level of Mg and Ca in patients groups were comparable to that of control.

Results of this study were discussed with the mechanism in the development of HID as well as it value in identifying those who are at high risk of developing the disease.

The low levels of Se, Zn, Fe, Mn, and Cr may indicate the existence of deficiency state among IHD patients and this may provide a supportive evidence for the role of these elements deficiencies in the development of such disease.

On the other hand, the significantly higher level Cu observed among patients could be attributed to an increase in the major Cu containing protein in the plasma, normally Ceruloplasmin, a well-known acute phase protein.

The normal levels of serum Mg and Ca obtained in this study is in consonant with fact that these two elements in serum are well regulated b / hormonal action, and can hardly be considered as true indicator of Ca and Mg status in the body.
