الملخص الإنجليزي

The prediction of the blood flow through an axisymmetric arterial stenosis is one of the most important aspects to be considered during the atherosclerosis.

Indeed, this phenomenon results in a strong effect on the human life.

Since the blood is specified as a non-Newtonian fluid, the effect of fluid types and effect of Rheological properties of non-Newtonian fluid on the degree of stenosis have been studied.

To describe the deformation and flow properties of a constitutive equation are required, which are the relationships between the stress tensor and the rate of deformation.

The motion equations are written in vorticity-stream function formulation and was solved numerically by a computer program (Fortran 90) has been developed to solve the transformation of this formulation to finite difference method.

A comparison is made between a Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid for blood for Re = 10 and degree of stenosis 0.5.

In case of non-Newtonian fluid (blood) has been used different Reynolds numbers (10 - 300) and non-dimensional viscosities (30 -50).

Also it is found that the properties of blood (non-dimensional viscosity and Material parameter) must be at a certain range.

An acceptable agreement has been found between the shear stress at the wall with that found in the literature.
