الملخص الإنجليزي

In this investigation a theoretical inelastic analysis is presented for full response of both geometrical and material nonlinearities of planer r forced concrete frames subjected to mono tonic loads.

Shear deformations effect is included in the analysis.

The analysis adopts the large-displacement stability formulation, and models the frame members as beam-column elements.

The formulation of the heanicolumn elements is based on Mullerian approach allowing for the influence of the axial force on bending stiffness, changes in member chord length due to axial strain and flexural bowing are taken into account.

The total shear angle approach used to include the effect of shear deformation on stability analysis.

The nonlinear material behavior is considered through the use of two approaches: the effective section stiffness approach and the initial inelastic strain approach.

Constitutive relations for the stress-strain curve of reinforcing steel, and concrete in tension and compression and for high strength concrete were presented in this study.

Continuously changing section properties, of the frame members, are accounted for through the derivation of closed-form relations of properties in connection with an iterative scheme to preserve equilibrium at section level.

Incremental-iterative numerical ' technique utilizing the conventional Newton-Rap son algorithm was used to solve the nonlinear equilibrium equations of structural system Computer programs for nonlinear frame analysis were developed to predict the nonlinear response of reinforced concrete plane frames subjected to mechanical loads.

The influence of second-order effects such as material nonlinearity, geometric nonlinearity, inelastic deformation effect, tension stiffening and shear deformation effects were intrinsically accounted for in the formulation Several examples of concrete sections, reinforced concrete members, reinforced concrete frames and reinforced concrete Viereudeel trusses of experimental and analytical results presented m the available literature are utilized to verify the validity and applicability of the present method of analysis as well as the computer programs developed.

Finally, the frame analysis procedure was found to predict fairly accurately the load-deformation response, load capacity, and failure mechanism of several test specimens.
