الملخص الإنجليزي

There are two essential steps to design Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) network, which are Traffic Management and Network Design.

These steps must be performed precisely, and iterative!} to get an optimum network at lowest cost.

Due to the asynchronous transfer, calamity events occur during the call in three levels (Cali, Burst, and Ceil level).

But the elegant design and management of the network make the events rare.

There are several techniques used to analyze these events.

In this thesis, two techniques (Asymptotically and Simulation technique) combined to analyze the call blocking probability (the rare event of call level).

First equations have been approximated using Large Deviation (LD) theory to obtain the intervals that new call blocking probability (of type r on link J) can be observed- Mollified Hooke and Jeeves method is used in solving the resultant equation to obtain the optimum number of customers of each class when the constraints are enough.

Otherwise the programming problems methods are used to make these constraints enough to apply the above method.

Finally the original call blocking probability is simulated using the above results to obtain the largest call blocking probability of each class.
