Multi-beam satellite communication system technique could he used to nu prove and solve worldwide problems in com muni cat ions.

In this thesis, the study and analysis, which are presented, may solve some of telephone channels problems in Iraq via a multi-beam satellite system by using a multi-beam technique called SS / TDMA (Satellite-Switched / Time Division Multiple Access).

In other word, this thesis is an attempt to replace exchangers mid rep enters telephone channels network between provinces of Iraq with a mudra -beam satellite and number of earth stations.

The SS / TDMA technique is based on a traffic matrix for a certain system, which connects number of up links beams with ; it uncool down links beams.

The Iraqi Traffic Matrix (1TM) for telephone channels between Iraqi provinces which has been get from Iraqi Company for Telecommunication and Post, and has been planned to be used at year 2000 onward, is used in this study.

The major concern of this study is what is considered I he most difficult SS / TDMA problem that is the Time Slot Assign man (TSA) problem.

The TSA problem is solved by using seven different algorithms : 1.

The Complete Matching (CM) algorithm.

2.

The Weighed Matrix (WM) algorithm.

3.

The Tabulation & Sorting (TS) algorithm.

4.

The Improved Tabulation & Sorting (all's) algorithm.

5.

The Minimum Entry (ME) algorithm.

6.

The Dummy Matrix Addition (DMA) algorithm.

7.

The Modified Greedy (MG) algorithm.

The first two algorithms are the last recently published algorithms.

The remaining, live algorithms are considered as an attempt to establish new algorithms.

Some of the above algorithms are not suitable for some traffic matrices.

Since these algorithms arc subjected to successive tests, in order to choose the optimal algorithms so as to be applied for a real SS / TDMA system.

Hue Iraqi provinces are divided in to a number of zones at different configurations.

The calculations of transmission time (To) ; the number of switching matrices (Ns), and the SS / TDMA frames efficiencies were made for Iraqi casus after solving the TSA problem.
