الملخص الإنجليزي

Four new oolydentate pod and ligands Li, L 2, L3and L 4 that contain an imine and carbonyl ester groups were synthesized from condensation of aromatic aldehydes with aromatic or aliphatic diamines.

Ester groups were introduced into these podands hopefully to enhance the solubility of their metal complexes and enhance their selectivity toward d or f-block metals.

Complexes with ratio 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 or 2 : 1 (M : L) were obtained from the interaction of these podands with metal ions Cs (I), Cu (II), Pb (II), Hg (II), Th (IV), U02 (IV).

The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity measurements, magnetic susceptibility and spectral methods (IR spectroscopy, *H NMR, 13C NMR and UV-visible spectra).
