الملخص الإنجليزي

The Field experiment was conducted in the Grdarasha field, College of Agriculture, University of Salahaddin-Erbil, to study the effect of six levels (0.80, 160, 240, 320 and 400 Kɡ P ha-1) of phosphorus, four Levels (0,30,60 and 90 Kɡ S ha-1) of sulfur and their combination on growth, yield, quality of corn plant (Zea mays .L) and availability of phosphorus by factorial experiment using split plot design with three replicates.

The main results could be summarized as follows : 1- The application of different levels of phosphorus fertilizer at (p ≤ 0.05) caused an increase in yield components (yield, dry weight, weight of cob (fresh weight) and weight of 100 seeds) for corn plant the highest values (16.99, 12.07 ,23.96 Μɡ ha-1 and 36.16ɡ) were produced from treatment (P6), while the lowest values (15.30, 9.67 ,21.38 Μɡ ha-1 and (p2 34.45 g) were recorded from treatment 2- The combination between phosphorus and sulfur at (p ≤ 0.05) affected significantly on weight of dry mater only and the highest value (12.48 Μɡ ha-1) was recorded from treatment combination (P6S1) while the lowest value (9.42 Μɡ ha-1) was recorded from treatment combination (P2S4) 3- The application of different levels of phosphorus fertilizer led to significant increase in some growth parameters (cob length, number of seed columns per cob and number of seeds per cob) the highest values (14.32, 20.43 and 42.12 cm) were recorded from treatment (P6) , while the lowest values(18.80, 13.70 and 38.41cm) were recorded from treatments (P1).

But the application of different levels of sulfur and combination between phosphorus and sulfur were not affected significantly on the above growth characteristics.

4- The application of different levels of phosphorus fertilizer at (p ≤ 0.05) caused a significant increase in oil production the highest value(0.72 Μɡ ha-1) was recorded from (P4), but the application of different levels of sulfur and combination between phosphorus and sulfur were not affected significantly on oil production.

5- The levels of phosphorus fertilizer application had a significant effect at (p ≤ 0.05) on P, K+ , SO4 2- and protein content of corn plant the highest values (0.25,1.70,0.33 and 12.86ɡ 100ɡ) were recorded from the treatments (P6), (P4), (P6) and (P4) respectively, while the lowest values (0.27, 0.15, 1.52 and 10.5 g 100 g) were recorded from the treatments (P1), (P2), (P1) and (P1) respectively.

6- The application of different levels of sulfur had a significant effect at (p ≤ 0.05) on N, P, K+ ,SO4 2- and protein content of corn plant the highest values (1.49,1.62 ,0.31 and 12.85 ɡ 100ɡ) were recorded from treatments (S3), (S3), (S2)and (S4) respectively, while the lowest values (S1 0.28, 1.13, 1.54 and 11.86 g 100 g) were recorded from the treatment expect the lowest value of protein which was recorded from (S2) treatment 7- The combination between phosphorus and sulfur fertilizer affected significantly on nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulphate and protein content in corn plant the highest values (1.86,0.26,1.75,0.37 and 16.33 ɡ were recorded from the treatment combinations (P4S3100 g), (P6S4), (P6S3) , (P4S1) and (P4S4)respectively, while the lowest values 0.79, 0.13, 1.41, 0.22 and 8.16 g 100 g) were recorded from the treatment combinations (P2S1), (P1S1), (P2S2), (P1S1) and (P1S3) respectively.

8- Significant correlation coefficient values (r= 0.88*,0.87*,0.86*0.98 and 0.95*) were recorded between levels of applied P and *0.95, *0.99 each of leaf area, cob length, yield, weight of cobs, nitrogen, phosphorus and protein content of corn plant 9- Significant correlation coefficient values (0.98*,0.98*, 0.94*, 0.90 and 0.99*) were recorded between levels of applied S and each of yield, weight of cobs, nitrogen, phosphorus and protein content of corn plant.

10- The solubility diagram indicates low availability of phosphorus in Grdarasha soil.

11- The application of different levels of phosphorus, sulfur and combination between them caused shifting of some treatments and treatment combination towards more soluble compounds dicalcium phosphate(DCP)and dicalcium phosphate dehydrate (DCPD) in comparing with control treatment.

Which is controlled by B-TCP phase.
