الملخص الإنجليزي

The study was conducted at two locations, Qliassan Agriculture Research station, Faculty of Agriculture Sciences University of Sulaimani and at field experiment of Gerda-Rasha, College of Agriculture University of Salahaddin.

The objective of this study is to investigates of five maize hybrids (89 May 70, DKC6 120, FNH8 606, Fito cadi 2 and Biotic market) and four harvesting date on forage yield and some quality characters.

The treatments were arranged in a split-plot design with in randomize complete block design.

The hybrids were putting in main plots and harvesting date in sub plots with three replicates.

The comparisons between the means were tested by least significant difference at probability level 5 %.

The results of this study can summarized as follows : The statistical analysis of combined analysis for the average of both locations that the hybrids effect significantly on plant height, number of leaves plant-1, leaf area, fresh and dry weight plant-1, fresh and dry forge yield, protein and fiber content.

The hybrid (89May 70) were superior and surpassed in leaf area, fresh and dry weight / plant, fresh and dry forage yield, while the hybrid FNH8 605 were superior in plant height and fiber content with 186.00cm and 24.664 % respectively.

The hybrid DKC6 120 gave maximum percentage of protein (13.84 %).

Results of combined analysis for both locations confirmed that the effect of harvest date was significant for all studied characters.

The first harvest date gave high values for ash and protein contents with 11.133 and 18.292 % respectively.

The second harvest date gave maximum values for number of leaves / plant and fiber content with values 16.167 leaves and 26.309% respectively while the fourth harvest date produced maximum values plant height, leaf area, fresh weight/plant, dry weight / plant, fresh forage yield, dry forage yield with values 215.967cm, 7626.83cm2, 917.333g, 218.367g, 52.345 t / ha and 12.447 t/ha respectively.

Results of combined analysis for the locations showed significantly effect for plant height, leaf area, fresh and dry weight plant-1, fresh and dry forage yield and dry matter %.

The Girda rashe location predominated Qliassan location in these characters with the exception of dry matter percent.

The results of combined analysis for grain yield and its components as the average of both locations respond to hybrid.

The hybrids effect significantly with the exception of number of ear plant-1, kernel yield, number of days to 50% tassling and silking.

The hybrid 89May70 were superior in number of kernel row-1, kernel weight row-1, kernel weight ear-1, cob length and 300 kernel weights, while the hybrid DKC6 120 showed maximum value for number of row / ear.

The hybrid DKC6 120 gave maximum values for number of row / ear, and kernel yield / plant.

The hybrid FNH8 605 gave maximum value for Ear height, while the hybrid Fito gave the highest value in cob diameter and the hybrid Biotic exhibited the highest value in the character cob weight.

All studied characters for kernel yield and its components responded significantly to the effect of locations with the exception of number of ear plant-1, and cob diameter.

Gerda Rashe location out yielded significantly Qliassan location in all these characters.
