الملخص الإنجليزي

Gamma spectroscopy technique has been employed to measure the activity concentration of four radioactive isotopes 228Ra, 226Ra, 137Cs and 40K in Dead Sea sediment.

The measurements of activity concentration of radioactive isotopes (228Ra, 226Ra, 137Cs and 40K) are performed as a function of depth of 100 cm in all areas.

The mean activity concentrations are found to be 20 ± 2 Bq / kg , 11 ± 3 Bq / kg, and 698 ± 35 Bq / kg for 228Ra,226Ra, and 40K respectively, the average value of 228Ra and 226Ra falls within the global range of international reported values (25, 25 Bq / kg) respectively.

The average value of 40K in my study to be 698±35 is higher than (370 Bq / kg) (UNSCEAR-2000), this high concentration comes from the high ratio of salts in the water of the Dead Sea.
