الملخص الإنجليزي

-The current study is accomplished to detect the diseases that afflict the lungs of the slaughtered cows in the abattoirs of Basrah via the gross and microscopic examination of the lesions caused by those diseases by the use of the traditional stains (H & E) and immunohistochemistry stain to detect the presence of the malignant cells.

The study comprises 1000 samples collected from the slaughtered cow's lungs of different ages regardless of the sex of the animals.

The results show that 800 samples are intact and free from lesions and the remaining 200 samples are inflicted with different lesions such as arteriosclerosis and atheroma 2 % for each, hyperplasia, oedema, bronchiectasis and parasite infection 4 % for each, pneumonia 7 %, emphysema 31 % and the congestion 20 % and there is a relation between the high ratios for these lesions which have appeared along with many factors such as maltreatment that followed to prepare the animal for slaughtering inside the abattoir and maladministration of the owners.

And the results show that most of the lungs of the slaughtered animals inside the abattoirs are inflicted with lesions after they are examined microscopically.

The pollution of the drinking water and fodders has an obvious effect on the results of the current study where most of the parasitic infestations are the hydatid cysts (12 %) that are cause by the ingestion of the highly larvae polluted fodders.

The effect of the exposure to the radiations that emit from the wars weapons and grazing near the factories and the industrial wastes is apparent where the results indicated that (41.94 %) of the tumor growth suspected cases exert positive results when they are treated with the tumor cells detecting by immunohistochemistry.

There are many types of bronchogenic carcinoma found in this study such as 7 cases (26 %) squamous cell carcinoma, 3 cases (11 %) adenocarcinoma, 3 cases (11 %) large cell carcinoma and one case of small cell lung carcinoma.
