الملخص الإنجليزي

A new series of6-(2, 5-dichlorothiene-3-yl)-4-aromatic-3-carbonitrile-2-oxo-l,2-dihydropyridine (51 a-h) were prepared by heterocyclization of particular arylchalcones (16) with ethyj cyanoacetate in presence of ammonium acetate.

The latter compounds were prepared by reacting aromatic aldehydes with 2, 5-dichlorothiophene moieties through a base catalyzed, Clasien-Schmidt condensation reaction.

Thus, the reaction produced the chalcones (16 a-h) in high yields.

All newly synthesized compounds were characterized by the standard spectroscopic techniques (NMR, IR, and Mass).
