Effect of probiotic pseudomonas oryzihabitans as feed additive on enhancing health status and growth performance of oreochromis niloticus

In this study, Pseudomonas oryzihabitans used was isolated from intestines of Oreochromis niloticus.

Congo red and crystal violet binding activity tests were used to detect virulence in vitro which Pseudomonas oryzihabitans appeared non virulent.

At the end of the feeding trial, fish treated with Ps.

oryzihabitans as feed additive showed significantly (P ≤ 0.05) higher final weight, body weight gain, average daily gain (ADG), specific growth rate (SGR) than control group.

The initial weight and survival rate showed no significant differences (P > 0.05).

The erythrocytic count, total leucocytic count, hemoglobin content and haematocrit percent were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) higher when compared with control group.

Also, the concentrations of total serum protein, albumin and globulin were significantly (P ≤ 0.05) higher compared with control group.

No significant difference (P > 0.05) was observed for creatinine between the treatment group and the control in serum samples.

While urea revealed significant changes when compared with control group.
