Newly diagnosed hyperglycemia among patients with acute coronary syndromes in Missan Hospital : a case-control study

the coronary care unit (CCU) over a period of one year, 217 patients (19.5 %) were found to have hyperglycemia with known preexisisting diabetes, 146 patients (13.1 %) had newly diagnosed hyperglycemia without history of diabetes, and the remaining 751 patients (67.4 %) were found to have normal blood glucose levels.

Newly diagnosed hyperglycemia was recognized in 7 % of control group patients.
