Loss of heterozygosity in short arm of chromosome 8 in FFPE breast cancer tissue samples

Breast cancer is the commonest cancer affecting women worldwide.

This study is confined mainly to the malignant subtype invasive ductal carcinoma and designated to study the genetic changes in breast carcinogenesis.

Twenty subjects of Iraqi breast cancer cases in addition to 10 control individuals were the subjects of this study.

All cases were subjected to molecular study to find a relationship between 8p LOH and the risk of breast cancer.

The results showed that 2 cases were LOH positive for one of the studied polymorphic markers (D8S1145) in comparison to one normal and other benign control with normal genotype.
