Adsorptive removal of ampicillin from aqueous solution by using magnesium oxide

In this research the effect of various experimental factors on adsorption of ampicillin onto magnesium oxide as shaking times, adsorbent dosage, initial ampicillin concentraion and pH were studied at room temperture.

The adsoprtion data was fitted to the Freundlish isotherm than Langumair isotherm and the corresponding parameters were calculated.

Three kinetic models, namely pseudo first order, pseudo second order and intra-particle diffusion models were selected to analyse the adsorption process.

The results indicated that the adsorption followed a pseudo second order and confirms that adsorption of ampicillin on magnesium oxide was a multistep process.
