الملخص EN

To determine the pH of stimulated saliva and its relation to the oral health status.

Materials and methods: A sample of (96) children with an age of 4-5 years old and (96) adults with an age of 23-25 years old in Baghdad city was examined using plaque and gingival indices, dental caries and salivary flow rate were estimated.

Results : The salivary pH reduced by increasing PII score while, it was elevated by increasing the severity of gingivitis in both groups.

Mean of caries experience was found to decrease by increasing salivary pH and the latter was reported to increase with enhancement of flow rate in both groups.

Conclusion : Increasing pH increased GI and flow rate and decreased PII and dental caries
