الملخص الإنجليزي

This study investigates the methods of treatment of water which is produced as oil byproduct. In particular it aims to study the methods of (a) the process of bioremediationtreatment, and (b) the deep well injection.

Both methods are extensively studied andanalyzed, using data collected from Unity field, 650 km south of Khartoum in Mugladbasin.

The reason for this choice of field area was that the two methods referred to areapplied there.

The implementation of bioremediation project (surface treatment) is stillin progress, scheduled to complete in February 2009; the deep injection method hasalready been in operation, using well sources in Talih and Unity areas. The main objective of this study is to compare between the two methods which are usedfor the treatment of water produced in association with crude oil production, viz.bioremediation and deep injection methods.

The comparison has considered the factorsof efficiency and economy pertaining to the two methods.

In addition to this, theenvironmental impact of the two methods to ecosystem is also considered. The methodology of the study is based upon two elements.

The first element is the datacollection with regard to the forecasts of produced water for the next ten years.

Thiselement also concerns the data of use of ground water as injected fluid.

The secondelement is the data analysis, which is governed by relations introduced and defined inthe literature review. The conclusions of the work were taken from the results and discussion of the dataanalyses, which were summarized in the recommendations.

The recommendations coverthe environmental hazards and the furthering of studies and research.

In particular, theyare related to the proper way of implementing and managing of operating techniques forthe said methods in a way supposed to achieve friendly ecosystem disposal results andenvironmentally accepted treatment of produced water.
