الملخص الإنجليزي

Elklakla south of Khartoum is the study area.

The problem is concerned with disposed waste from septic tanks to wells as final deposal point.

Those wells locations are usually within the effective radius of the artesian wells used for water supply.

The aquifer is subjected to pollution by the domestic waste which can reach it easily through soil infiltration both by vertical and lateral leakage.

The objectives of this study are to protect ground water from being polluted by domestic wastewater for the sake of healthy man.

The other objective is to reuse domestic wastewater for irrigation after being treated enough according to WHO guidelines.

The designed septic tank equipped with activated carbon filter is the methodology used to achieve those objectives.

The disposed waste comes out of this unit is save enough to be used for irrigation according to lab results referring to WHO guidelines.

So the study recommendation is to stop ground water pollution by introducing the activated carbon filter with the old septic tank system.
