الملخص الإنجليزي
-This research has been an ¬attempt to assess the paragraph writing of Sudanese pupils at Basic Level Schools in Khartoum North – Musab Ibn Omier in Shambat.
The researcher assesses the pupils' performance in writing a paragraph.
Research data were original written answers to examination held at Bahri District – Bahri Municipality.
Musab Ibn Omier Basic Level School for Boys, 8th class.
The results have shown that pupils' writing was characterized by poor grasp of the properties of English paragraph writing, i.e.
discourse coherence and discourse mechanics. The results have also shown that the pupils lack awareness of these discourse attributes which seem to correlate writing.
