الملخص الإنجليزي

-This study is concerned with the development of mathematical models in managerial decision-making situations in industrial planning system in the field of production and transportation for one of the industrial establishments namely General Industries & Packages Company which is a part of Hayel Saeed Anam Group of Companies in the Republic of Yemen. In this study some mathematical models have been developed and constructed for data concerning the elements which are entered in the production process such as raw material, machine time, number of laborers and market demand in addition to some data concerning the transportation network. After realizing that the interrelation between the mathematical models is linear the linear programming techniques are used for finding the optimal solution for these models which satisfy a feasible maximum return and feasible least cost for the company under study activities.

Due to the nature of collected data and its competitive of their produced goods to the same raw materials and lines of production, the problem is divided into three production sub-models.

The objective functions of the constructed models contain 9, 13 and 13 decision variables respectively and subject to some constraints in the form of inequalities which consist of 26, 34 and 35 constraints respectively to restricted the available resources and market demand.

However the constructed transportation model study the transportation scheduling process which is adopted from sales and distribution department to ship the produced goods from the company to the distribution centers by using four types of transportation tools, where the model contains 57 decision variables and 20 constraints satisfying the demand and supply.

The obtained transshipment model study the transshipment scheduling process which contains 8 supply sources and 44 demand places. The use of linear programming technique for solving and analyzing the models leads us to determine the best production contributing the increase of the net total return for the company under study.

It also shows the optimal number of transportation tools that can be used for shipping the goods to the distribution centers so as the total transportation cost will be minimum.

The study has been organized in two main parts consisting of seven chapters as following: Chapter one is an introductory and review of literature which was carried out on the area of Operation Research/Management Science, mathematical programming and linear programming to learn some concepts and tools applied in formulating mathematical models in general and in area of realm of industrial in particular.

Characteristics of study area will be discussed in chapter two.

Chapter three is concerned with building and developing the production linear models for the problem under study.

Chapter four was devoted to solve and analyze the build models to reach the optimal solution by using available software package TORA to highlight the best policy (policies) that can be adopted by the company under study. A comprehensive sensitivity analysis to the optimal solution (models coefficients and parameters) will be discussed in chapter five.

Several experiments were conducted exclusively to enhance some modifications in the developed models and to investigate their effect on the optimal solution.

Chapter six is concerned with building and developing the transportation and transshipment models for the problem under study.

Also the solution of the models will be discussed.

General conclusions, recommendations, suggestions and possible future work will be discussed in chapter seven. The important findings in this study: 1.

Linear programming (LP) models for the production plans, transportation and transshipment scheduling models for the company under study have been developed.

The solution of these models provides the company with annual plans for their business activities.

2.

The developed models have given good alternative policies for the company under study to make perfect wise decisions in production plans and in the distribution of the produced goods to the consumption centers.

3.

The constructed models show the flexibility of the uses of the mathematical models especially the linear programming techniques in industrial planning.

In addition they give many priorities in production plans and distribution of goods. 4.

The constructed models show the functional relationship between the amount of production and the raw materials, as well as the machines time and laborers.

They also show the relationship between cost of shipping goods and the transportation tools to distribution centers.

It also shows the optimal production that if considered and adopted by the company under study can reduce the waste available resources and achieve as maximum return as possible.

Also it provides the production and planning control department with some alternatives and other future plans through model sensitivity analysis experiments which are conducted on the different models in addition it shows the least and best ways with minimum cost to ship the company produced goods to consumption centers.
