الملخص الإنجليزي

-This study aims at investigating problems of spoken English faced by Libyan students in order to find programs or solutions to improve the students' oral abilities, and to overcome difficulties which face teachers of English language.

This research consists of five chapters as follows. Chapter One includes: An Overview, Statement of the Problem, Hypothesis, Procedures of the study, Importance and The Scope of the study, Definition of the Terms and the Methodology. Chapter Two The researcher gives brief summary about the Educational system in Libya and some of Related Literature.

Chapter Three The researcher states Data gathering techniques Chapter Four Is about the Discussion, Interpretation of Results and findings Chapter Five Includes the conclusions recommendations of the researcher and his suggestion for further studies. The main problems facing the students as shown in the results obtained from both questionnaires in chapter four are: 1- The sudden changing of curriculums. 2- Students Shyness and fearing of doing mistakes during oral testing... 3- Class density 4- Arabic talking inside the class. 5- The traditional way of teaching neglects the speaking skills. In light of what the researcher reaches in the last chapter he recommends: 1- Teaching English should start at the primary level (school). 2- Schools should be provided by Teaching Aides 3- Oral tests must be isolated from written tests. 4- The assigned textbook should not be changed suddenly, if the new textbook will not be understandable. 5- To avoid class density i.e.

to give opportunity to every student to practice his oral performance, Students can be divide into small groups with no more than three students per each group.

6- Teachers should motivate their students to make oral summary or presentation, giving their opinions of view.
