الملخص الإنجليزي

-The objective of this research is to study and investigate the performance of TErrestrial Trunked RAdio (TETRA) communication system in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) against Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR).

The modulation scheme used in TETRA systems is π/4 Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (π/4 DQPSK).

It is investigated against the Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK) modulation used in Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) system.

Both TETRA and GSM are based on time division multiple access.

The impairment taken into consideration were Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN), Rayleigh fading channel for urban areas and Rician fading channel for Rural areas.

The performance investigation is implemented using MATLAB Software 2010a Simulink and M files, the results were obtained, based on the analysis, in term of tables and graphs using Simulink.

From the Results it is found generally that the BER decrease when the Signal to Noise Ratio increased and the simulated BER of the Pi/4 DQPSK was found better than GMSK for all impairments was taken into consideration in this research.
