The manufacturing process is one of the most important ways to ensure the quality control of quality of medicinal products, including herbal medicine.

Infectious diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria, viruses and protozoa parasites usually associated with drinking-water.

In this study samples of herbal medicines and drinking water were collected from different companies, Central Medicinal Stores (CDS), samples of bottled water were collected from supplier agents and tap water collected from different four places in Khartoum State .(Khartoum center, Bahary, Omdurman and Alkakla) Laboratory analysis of these samples was carried out in the National Drug Quality Control Laboratory in the Department of Microbial Analysis and Microbial Count.

One of the main finding of this study was that 86% of drugs samples are higher than the acceptance range regarding the fungi count, which was mentioned in European Pharmacopeia, however 100% of bottled water were higher than the range, which was mentioned in United State Pharmacopeia (USP 2007), where 50% of tap water (city water) were higher than the range, which was mentioned in (USP) for bacterial count .

The results of drugs samples were within the range (bacterial counts) which was mentioned in European Pharmacopeia (2008).

The results of this study showed that two samples of tablet and capsules contained pathogenic bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus), The two pathogenic bacteria found in one sample of tap water (water city), were (Klebsiella pneumoniae and Proteus mirabilis).
