Sero-epidemiology of human cystic echinococcosis in Basrah governorate

An antigen of high sensitivity and 97.5 % specificity prepared from hydatid cyst fluid was used in an ELISA test for a sero-epidemiological survey in areas of Basra, Iraq.

The calculated predictivity values for positive and negative cases were 3.5 % and 96.4 % respectively.
