Pseudomesotheliomatous lung carcinoma of poorly differentiated large cell type : A case repor and review of literature

A 46-year-old female presented with a 20-day history of right pleuritic chest pain and progressive shortness of breath.

She was found to have a right pleural based malignancy initially thought to be a malignant mesothe¬lioma but staining with the mesothelioma tumor mark¬ers calretinin, HBME-1 and CK5I6, was negative.

Some epithelial markers were positive and microscopically it was consistent with a poorly differentiated large-cell carcinoma.

The case was diagnosed as a pseudomeso¬theliomatous lung carcinoma of poorly differentiated large-cell type.
