Yields of even-even fission fragments

The yields of the fission fragments produced from 197Au(19F,f) and 232Th(18O,f) reactions have been measured from the intensity of γ-rays emitted by the secondary fission fragments.

A comparison between the yields of the fission fragments of the two systems has been made.

From this comparison it is shown that the width of the Gaussian distribution of the fission fragments produced by the 232Th(18O,f) reaction is bigger than that of the fission fragments produced by the 197Au(19F,f) reaction.

This is consistent with not observing the γ-rays of the associated fission fragments.
