Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is a new type of concrete, resulted from the technological advancement in area of concrete admixtures.

A various investigations have been carried out on SCC but the effect of elevated temperature on self-compacting concrete was of little research.

This thesis aimed to study the mechanical properties of SCC such as compressive strength, tensile strength and modulus of elasticity when exposed to cycles of elevated temperatures then treated in either water quench or air cooled.

In this research, the variables included were the cycle temperature (25oC, 100oC, 150oC, and 200oC) and the treatment type (water quench or air cooled) at cement content of 500 Kg/m3 using ordinary Portland cement. Test results clearly show that a higher reduction in compressive, tensile strength and modulus of elasticity for SCC occur when exposed to cycles of elevated temperature then quenched in water.
