الملخص EN

Objective: The purpose of this in vitro study was to find the shear bond strengths needed to eliminate microleakage at the dentin / restoration interface.

Materials and Methods: The occlusal enamel surfaces of the teeth were ground flat to expose the dentin surfaces.

The dentin surfaces were treated with one of the combinations of the dentin bonding agents and adhesive restorative materials.

Results: Statistical analysis of the results revealed that the Scotchbond Multi–purpose adhesive had higher shear bond strengths values than those of the Syntac single– component adhesive for all the restorative materials used, and the difference was significant (p < 0.05).

The microleakage results, however, were not significantly different (p > 0.05), although, the Compomer showed less microleakage at dentin / restoration interface than the composite resin which is less microleakage than the Tetric flow material.

Conclusion: For all the adhesive restorative materials, Scotchbond Multi-purpose adhesive performed the best in bonding the restorative materials to dentin and shear bond strength value of 18-21 MPa may reduce the microleakage to minimal values and not prevent the microleakage completely
