Synthesis and characterization of uranium and thorium complexes with some piperazine N, N' dioxide derivatives

Using mono or bidentate ligands, 1,4-bis (2,4-dinitro phenyl)-2-methyl piperazine -N,N'-dioxide (At), l-methyl-4(2,4-dinitrophenyl)- piperazine-N,N-dioxide(A2),l-(p-acetylphenyl)-4(p-nitro phenyl) piperazine N,N'-dioxide (A;,), l,4-bis(p-nitro phenyl) piperazine N,N’-dioxide (A4), and 1-(p-acetylphenyl)-4 (2,4 dinitrophenyl) piperazine N,N' dioxide ((A5), complexes of uranium and thorium have been prepared.

The complexes have been characterized by IR, electronic spectra, conductivity measurements and microanalysis.

The suggested structures of the prepared complexes are discussed according to the chelating behaviour of the ligands.
