الملخص AR

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between group cohesion and collective efficacy in football teams succès.

Also.

the study tries to determine whether the cohesion/collective efficacy relationship can be moderated by the type of selected group.

Eighty-nine male football players representing different clubs were randomly selected for the purpose of this study, with (ر[ق = ٨ Premier League players, and (n == 38) First Division players who participated in the Jordan-Cup (.'hampionshjp that is being held yearly by the Jordan Football Federation prior to the main National Football League Championship.

An extreme group design was used to detercnine whether cohesion was related to collective efficacy, and to classify players as either high or low in their perception of how they expected their team to do in the tournament.

The results showed that specific measures of group cohesiveness were positively related to collective efficacy for ?remier League football teams, but not for First Division teams.

The four scale Group Environment Questionnaire (GEQ) was used to assess team cohesion.

In the ?remier football team, Individual Attraction to Group-Task and Group Intergration-Social was found to differentiate significantly between low and high collective efficacy teams, with the high collective efficacy teams rating cohesiveness higher.

However, when the relationship between group cohesion and collective efficacy was examined for First Division teams, no significance in the results was shown.

It is hoped that the findings of this study are expressive enough to support future study.

Also, the researcher suggests that more research be conducted to direct the cohesion/collective efficacy question from a comparative perspectiv
