New record of two species of hard ticks from some domestic animals in Basrah-Iraq

A survey of hard ticks which infested some domestic animals in Basrah province was carried during the period from March till August 2004.

Hyalomma anatolicum excavatum was found to infest cattles, buffalos and donkeys for the first time in Iraq, while H.

asiaticum was recorded infesting cattles for the first time in southern area, whereas Rhipicephalus turanicus and R.

sanguineus were found to infest dogs and cats for the first time in Iraq respectively.
