The human activities and poor water management in the study area lead to serious deterioration of water quality as well as depletion in quantity.

The study area lies east of the River Nile in Khartoum State.

The aim objective of the study was to evaluate the groundwater quantitatively and qualitatively through out geological, hydrogeological, hydrochemical analysis and ground water modeling technique.

The study showed that main water-bearing strata are sandstone and conglomerate in the Nubian sandstone formation with thickness (20-80 m) that over lained by superficial deposits.

It forms two aquiferous zones (upper and lower) locally separated by mudstone layer partial and sometimes completely impermeable overlying mudstone horizons and bounded from the north and extremely east by the Basement Complex rocks.

The hydraulic gradient of the water table near the River Nile is about 0.05, decrease towards the east to about 1.3x10-3.

In addition, the velocity near the River Nile is found about 0.8 km / year and at distance of 15 km from the River Nile is about 0.024 km / year, which is very low.

The hydraulic properties of the aquifer system were estimated from the pumping test data analysis using Aquitest showed that the transmissivity values are widely varied 2.11x103 m2.day-1 to 7.2*102 m2.day-1 for the upper and lower aquifer respectively.

The storativity values for the upper and lower aquifers are about 2.4*10-2 and 1.2*10-2 respectively.

The hydraulic conductivity results indicated that the upper aquifer is highly permeable (16*102 m.

day-1) than the lower one (6.05*102 m.

day-1).

The aquifer are almost recharged laterally from the River Nile where the estimated annual recharge value is about 5.2*10m8 m3.day-1.

The recharge source result was confirmed by hydrochemical analysis, which showed that the water (Ca-HCO3) and calcium magnesium bicarbonate (Ca-Mg-HCO3) water types near the River Nile and sodium, chlorite Bicarbonate (Na +K, Cl, HCO3) and sodium, chlorite sulfate (Na-Cl-SO4) water types at the center and eastern part of the area.

The area is showed high salinity in the upper part, resulted from the concentration of evaporites (gypsum and carbonates.

The modeling results and the water balance component analysis showed close agreement between the observed and simulated heads with small discrepancy (0.7 %).

The model excursus also revealed that saline water intrusion can be attributed to reverse flow effects.
