The cathodic protection system on the Grassy Wharf was one of the first full scale installations in Australia, and has now been in operation for about 5 (five) years.

A mixed metal oxide coated titanium mesh and shotcrete applied cementitious overlay system was used as an anode.

This paper describes the background to, installation of, and monitoring and performance of the system.

Performance of the system has been assessed by potential shift, absolute potential, potential decay/depolarization criteria, and the positive base potential shift phenomenon.

Monitoring results are presented and analyzed against each of the criteria.

The monitoring results indicate that the CP system has been providing corrosion protection to the wharf reinforcement over the last 5 years.

No visible deterioration of the cementitious overlay is evident.

Other elements of the CP system show no signs of deterioration.
