With increasing longevity, but with an unmatched rise in disease free longevity, there are now greater problems in independent living.

Difficulties in respect of mobility, vision, speech and hearing are quite common.

Individual variations are many, and demand innovative solutions in each case.

Technology can provide answers if the disabled person, environment and techniques are viewed in a holistic manner.

Some technological systems developed and currently in use in India, are described in this article.
