Experimental studies and electrochemical kinetic parameters of Raney-Silver gas diffusion electrode in hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell

-Experimental investigation with pure oxygen on a Raney-Silver porous electrode was carried out in a half-cell system to determine Tafel parameters (exchange current density’ and charge transfer coefficient) from the mathematical model which was developed earlier.

The values were found to be in the same range with reported values in the literature.

Electrode polarization was reduced significantly with an increase in temperature.

Exchange current density followed an exponential relation with temperature.

Apparent activation energies were found to decrease with increasing overpotential, and activation energy corresponding zero overpotential is also determined.
