This paper pre seats an analysis of the nisba (Relational Adjective" derivation in Arabic in the light of die most recent morphological theories.

The nisba derivaiion is claimed in (his paper to stand as a counterexample tc the rigid separation between derivationaJ levels and the typology ot derivational processes.
