In the hydrogenation of toluene by alumina supported Pt, Pd and Rh; Rh/AUOg was found to be the most active.

Over Rh/A^Oj and at a temperature lower than 80 °C, hydrogenation can be done effeciently.

Meanwhile hydrogenation by Pt/A^Og attains a toluene conversion of 3% at 25 °C and RI1/AI2O3 attains a conversion of 43% at the same temperature, Pt/A^Oj does not show any activity at this temperature.

However, the bimetallic catalyst Rh-Pt/AbO-^ at all composition ratios used in this study shows the highest activity among used catalysts at the same reaction conditions.
