Effect of cecal anaerobic microflora of adiilt native chickens on salmonella enteritidis in broiler chicks

The effect of inoculation of anaerobic culture of cecal microflora of adult native chickens on isolated strain of Salmonella enteritidis was evaluated on one-day-old broiler chicks.

Two hundred one day old chicks, were divided into two groups; one inoculated with anaer¬obic culture and two as control group.

AH groups were orally chal enged with (107) organisms of s.

enteritidis at 3 days of age.

Re¬sults indicated that anaerobic culture of cecal microflora of native adult chickens protected chicks, and reduced mortalities after a chal¬lenge with s.

enteritidis.

Also it significantly (P<0.05) reduced con¬tamination of internal organs, lowered and prevented the shedding of the organism in internal organs (liver, spleen, ceca) and cecal swabs, which could favourably influence the dynamics of transmis¬sion within the flock, and had no apparent effect on weight gain and feedconversion.
