Physical and engineering properties of some selected limestone rocks in northern Jordan

This paper presents results of physical and engineering properties of some selected limestones of Northern Jordan.

About ”500" samples from five selected sites believed to represent the dominant Northern Jordan limestones which belong to the massive limestone unit (Wadi Sir formation) were extracted and tested to evluate their phyiscal and engineering properties.

Results were analyzed based on well known identification, comparison, ranking and classification systems.

Several models were inferred for compressive strength of tested rocks based on a regression analysis of experimental results.

The uniaxial compressive strength is correlated with several rock properties such as absorption, porosity, void ratio, Schmidt hammer rebound and ultrasonic wave velocity.
