Lack of relationships between morphological variation and enzyme heterozygosity in two species of migratory fish from Basrah waters, Iraq

Two migratory fish species belonging; to the families Mugillidae Liza .subviridis (Valenciennes, 1836) and Spuridae Acanthopagrus latus (Houttuyn, 1782) were used in testing the hypothesis that enzyme heterozygosity is associated with decreased morphological variations.

Six polymorphic loci and three mcristic characters were examined.

The result doesnot confirm the hypothesis and thus.a relationship, although observed by several other workers, may not be a common one.
