الملخص EN

This study invesfigates the hypothesis which suggests that red blood celts contribute to the formation of thromboxane A2 under the influence of shear forces when blood cells are exposed to nonendothelial surfaces.

Thromboxane B2 concentration was used as an index to thromboxane A2 Formation because of the short half life of this platelet agonist.

The effect of shear rate and shear stress was assessed and results show that thromboxane A2 formation is a function of shear rate rather than shear stress* Also, results suggest a significant contribution of red Wood cells (RBCs) to the formation 6f thromboxane A2 under the specified experimental conditions.

Furthermore, the study suggests a correlation between shear-induced adenosine diphosphate (ADR) release (1) and thromboxane Aa release.
