Demand analysis In Jordan

The main objective of this Research is to analyze the patterns of consumption in Jordan.

This study intends to give a picture of the essential commodities which people used to spend on.

Five demand equations have been applied to Jordanian household Expenditure For 1986.

On the basis of statistical tests which are used, it has been found that Englel elasticities of demand for food clothing, fuel, elecricity and water are inelastic with respect to the total expenditures, Whereas the demand for housing transportation, education, medical care, durable goods, Luxuries and miscellaneaous commodity groups are elastic.
